Description
The 2023 Ramonet Puligny-Montrachet Blanc is a quintessential expression of one of Burgundy’s most revered domaines. Precise, powerful, and impeccably balanced, it brings together concentrated fruit, vivid acidity, and the mineral depth that makes Puligny-Montrachet such a benchmark for fine Chardonnay.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a clear, luminous pale gold hue with the finesse expected from top-tier Côte de Beaune Chardonnay. The nose is layered and refined, with notes of citrus, white flowers, ripe orchard fruit, and a distinctive chalky, flinty minerality.
On the palate, the wine is beautifully taut yet generous, with powerful fruit framed by electric freshness and a deep, complex core. The finish is long and saline, suggesting excellent aging potential and the ability to gain even greater nuance over time.
Production
Ramonet’s Puligny-Montrachet comes from some of the most prized terroirs in Burgundy, where limestone-rich soils and a cool climate give Chardonnay its trademark tension, precision, and mineral drive. Harvested by hand and vinified with the domaine’s meticulous, traditional approach, the wine is crafted to preserve purity, structure, and site expression while retaining the artisanal character for which Ramonet is renowned.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs superbly with refined dishes such as lobster, scallops, roasted poultry, turbot, or creamy mushroom risotto. Serve it slightly chilled, ideally around 10–12°C, and consider brief decanting if the wine is very young to help it open fully in the glass.
Producer
Domaine Ramonet is one of Burgundy’s legendary producers, long celebrated for its outstanding white wines from Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. Founded in the early 20th century and still family-run, the domaine has built a reputation for consistency, precision, and some of the Côte de Beaune’s most collectible Chardonnay bottlings.
