Description

Château Talbot 2023 is a classic Saint-Julien from one of Bordeaux’s most respected left-bank estates, combining elegance, structure, and unmistakable Cabernet-driven character. Classified as a Fourth Growth in the 1855 ranking, it reflects the pedigree and consistency that have made Talbot a benchmark name in the Médoc.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the poised depth you expect from Saint-Julien, with a dark, polished color hinting at concentration and finesse. The bouquet opens with cassis, black cherry, and dark berries, layered with cedar, tobacco, and a subtle spice note. On the palate, the wine is structured yet refined, with ripe, finely grained tannins and a bright line of freshness that keeps the fruit focused and energetic. The finish is long, balanced, and lightly mineral, giving it excellent aging potential and the ability to develop beautifully over the coming decade and beyond.

Production
The grapes come from gravelly terraces with clay beneath, a terroir that gives the wine both power and precision, while reinforcing the classic Saint-Julien style. Fruit is hand-harvested and carefully sorted, then vinified parcel by parcel in temperature-controlled tanks before spending 14 to 16 months in French oak barrels, with a measured proportion of new wood to preserve balance and regional character.

Food & Serving
This is an ideal match for beef fillet, lamb, game, rich sauces, and mature cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the aromas and tannins to open up fully.

Producer
Château Talbot is one of Saint-Julien’s most admired estates and a long-standing name in Bordeaux’s left bank history. Its 1855 Fourth Growth classification underlines its significance in the region, and over time the château has built a reputation for reliable quality, classic styling, and wines with notable ageing potential.
