Château Lagrange’s vineyards lie on some of the highest gravel ridges in Saint-Julien, with deep Günzian gravel over a clay and sand subsoil—ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon, which typically forms the backbone of the blend alongside Merlot and a touch of Petit Verdot. The estate practices meticulous vineyard management with careful canopy work and green harvesting to ensure optimal ripeness, and the grapes are harvested parcel by parcel at peak maturity, often picked by hand. In the cellar, the fruit is sorted with precision and vinified in temperature-controlled vats, with each plot vinified separately to respect its individual character. The wine then matures in French oak barrels (a proportion of which are new), allowing the tannins to refine and the aromatic profile to gain depth while preserving the clarity and freshness that define the 2023 vintage.
