The blend typically leans on Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with supporting roles from Cabernet Franc and occasionally Petit Verdot, though proportions vary by vintage. Grapes are harvested plot by plot, often by hand, at optimal ripeness, then sorted meticulously to select only the best berries. Vinification is carried out in temperature-controlled vats, with gentle extraction to preserve finesse over power. The wine is then matured in French oak barrels (a proportion of which are new), allowing it to gain complexity, polish its tannins and integrate subtle spice notes without overwhelming the purity of the fruit.
