Description

2023 Château Constellation Pinot Noir is a poised and vibrant expression of cool-climate Pinot from the Swiss Alps, crafted for drinkers who appreciate finesse over sheer power. This cuvée highlights the natural purity and elegance that Switzerland’s high-altitude vineyards can deliver, balancing bright fruit with a gentle, refined structure. As a relatively young but ambitious label, Château Constellation focuses on detail in the vineyard and cellar to showcase Pinot Noir’s most graceful side.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the 2023 Château Constellation Pinot Noir shows a translucent ruby hue with light garnet reflections at the rim, signaling freshness and delicacy. The nose is inviting and precise, offering aromas of crushed red cherries, wild strawberries, and raspberry coulis, layered with hints of rose petal, violets, and a whisper of alpine herbs and subtle spice. On the palate, this Pinot Noir is medium-bodied and silky, with fine, polished tannins and a vibrant line of acidity that keeps the wine lively from start to finish. Flavors of red cherry, cranberry, and pomegranate are delicately framed by notes of white pepper, soft oak toast, and a faint earthy, forest-floor character that adds complexity without weighing the wine down. The 2023 vintage is approachable and charming in its youth, best enjoyed over the next 3–6 years, when its fresh fruit and floral nuances are at their peak.

Production
Château Constellation sources its Pinot Noir from select Swiss vineyards influenced by alpine breezes, cool nights, and well-drained, mineral-rich soils—conditions that slow ripening and preserve the grape’s natural acidity and aromatic intensity. Grapes are typically harvested by hand in small crates to ensure careful selection and minimal damage to the fruit. In the cellar, the wine is vinified with a gentle approach: a cold soak to enhance color and aroma, followed by a temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel or small tanks to capture purity and freshness. A portion of the wine is then aged in neutral and lightly toasted oak barrels to lend texture and subtle complexity, while keeping the focus firmly on the precision of the fruit.

Food & Serving
This 2023 Pinot Noir is a versatile partner at the table, pairing beautifully with roasted poultry, herb-crusted pork tenderloin, seared duck breast, or mushroom-based dishes such as risotto or a wild mushroom tart. Its elegance and bright acidity also complement semi-soft cheeses like Gruyère or Tomme, echoing its Swiss origins. Serve slightly chilled, at around 14–16°C (57–61°F), to emphasize its freshness and aromatic lift. A brief 20–30 minute decant can help the wine open up, softening the tannins and allowing the delicate floral and herbal notes to fully express themselves.

Producer
Château Constellation represents a modern face of Swiss wine, bringing together carefully chosen vineyard sites and a quality-driven philosophy to highlight what the country’s cooler climates do best: refined, expressive Pinot Noir. While Swiss wines remain relatively under the radar internationally, producers like Château Constellation are helping to change that perception, focusing on precision in the vineyard and restraint in the cellar. With a growing reputation for elegant, terroir-driven reds, the estate is steadily earning recognition among sommeliers and enthusiasts who seek out distinctive, small-production wines from less familiar regions.
