Description
Aalto 2023 is a striking expression of modern Ribera del Duero, crafted to showcase depth, precision and power in equal measure. Sourced from some of the region’s most respected vineyard sites, it combines ripe dark fruit, structure and polish in a style that has made Aalto one of Spain’s most sought-after premium reds.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby color with an intense, concentrated core. The nose is layered with blackberries, dark cherries, violets, tobacco, spice and subtle toasted oak, giving it both richness and lift.
On the palate, it is full-bodied and refined, with ripe black fruit, firm but well-integrated tannins and a fresh line of acidity that keeps the wine balanced. The finish is long and persistent, suggesting excellent aging potential over the next 10–15 years, and possibly longer in a good cellar.
Production
Aalto is produced in Castilla y León, primarily from carefully selected old-vine parcels in Ribera del Duero, where altitude, limestone and a continental climate help preserve freshness and concentration. The grapes are typically harvested by hand and vinified with a focus on parcel selection, gentle extraction and ageing in oak to build complexity without overwhelming the fruit.
Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for grilled ribeye, roast lamb, game, slow-braised beef and hearty mushroom dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the wine to fully open.
