Production
Pazo de Barrantes is located in the heart of the Salnés Valley in Rías Baixas, a cool, Atlantic-influenced zone considered the cradle of Albariño. The vineyards, planted on granitic, well-drained soils with a high sand content, naturally limit vigor and accentuate the grape’s mineral and saline profile. Grapes are usually hand-harvested in small crates to preserve fruit integrity and picked parcel by parcel at optimal ripeness. In the cellar, the must is gently pressed and fermented at controlled, cool temperatures in stainless steel to retain precision and aromatic purity. A carefully judged period of aging on fine lees—sometimes incorporating a mix of stainless steel, concrete, and a small proportion of acacia or neutral wood—adds texture, complexity, and length without masking Albariño’s natural freshness.
