Alter Ego de Palmer is the expressive second wine of Château Palmer, offering a polished introduction to one of Margaux’s most celebrated estates. In the outstanding 2022 vintage, it captures the estate’s signature perfume, finesse and depth, while remaining a little more immediate and approachable than the Grand Vin.

Tasting Notes
The wine typically shows a deep garnet-purple colour with vivid youthful intensity. On the nose, expect a generous bouquet of ripe dark berries, plum, violet, cedar and subtle spice, layered with hints of fresh herbs and gravelly minerality. The palate is supple and finely textured, with ripe fruit, silky tannins and a long, graceful finish that reflects the elegance of Margaux. While already charming in youth, Alter Ego de Palmer has the balance and structure to develop well over the medium term, gaining further complexity with several years in bottle.

Production
Produced in Bordeaux at Château Palmer in Margaux, the wine comes from carefully selected plots that reflect the estate’s exceptional gravelly terroir, with the 2022 vintage benefiting from a warm, concentrated growing season. Grapes are harvested parcel by parcel at optimal ripeness, then vinified with the same attention to detail as the Grand Vin, with parcel selection, gentle extraction and élevage in oak designed to preserve purity, texture and aromatic precision.

Food & Serving
A natural match for roasted lamb, duck breast, beef tenderloin, mushroom dishes and rich lentil or game preparations. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the aromatics and texture to open fully.
