The 2022 vintage delivers the depth, structure, and refinement you would expect from a great left-bank Bordeaux, presented here in magnum for slower, graceful evolution.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine is deeply coloured and vivid, with an attractive youthful intensity that hints at its concentration. The nose opens with classic Pauillac character: ripe blackcurrant, cassis, dark plum, cedar, graphite, and subtle notes of spice and fine oak. On the palate, it is polished and layered, combining ripe black fruit with firm but well-integrated tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, refined finish. The magnum format will support even slower ageing, allowing the wine to develop additional complexity over time. While already appealing in its youth, it should reward cellaring for many years.

Le Petit Mouton is produced at Château Mouton Rothschild in Pauillac, where the gravelly soils of the left bank help promote excellent drainage and give the wines their signature structure and aromatic precision. The fruit is typically harvested by hand, with careful parcel selection to preserve quality and expression. Vinification follows the estate’s meticulous approach, with fermentation and ageing in oak to build depth, texture, and complexity while maintaining elegance.

This wine is an excellent match for classic Bordeaux pairings such as roast lamb, beef fillet, duck breast, game birds, and dishes with truffle or wild mushroom elements. It also works beautifully with hard cheeses and rich, slow-cooked meats. Serve at around 16-18°C, and consider decanting for 1-2 hours if opening young to help the wine unfold fully.
