Subtle undertones of violets, smoked earth, and cocoa add further complexity as the wine opens. On the palate, this vintage is full-bodied and layered, with a velvety texture wrapped around a firm, finely-knit tannic structure. Production
The 2022 Château Haut-Brion is born from the gravelly, well-drained soils of Pessac-Léognan on the outskirts of Bordeaux, a terroir famed for producing wines of both structure and aromatic finesse. The deep gravel, mixed with clay and sand, allows vine roots to penetrate deeply, contributing to the wine’s characteristic complexity and mineral edge. Grapes are harvested parcel by parcel at optimal ripeness, predominantly by hand, to ensure careful selection of only the finest bunches. In the cellar, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats, with each plot vinified separately to preserve its unique character before blending. The wine is then aged in high-quality French oak barrels (a significant proportion of them new), where it gains additional texture, aromatic detail, and refinement prior to bottling.

This is a superb partner for refined, richly flavored dishes such as roast lamb with herbs, beef tenderloin, braised short ribs, or game birds like duck or pheasant. It also pairs beautifully with earthy, truffle-infused dishes, wild mushrooms, and aged hard cheeses such as Comté or mature cheddar. For optimal enjoyment, serve the 2022 Château Haut-Brion at around 16–18°C (60–64°F). In its youth, decanting for 2–3 hours is recommended to help the wine open up and reveal its full aromatic and textural complexity; as it ages and softens, a shorter decant or careful service from the bottle will suffice.
