Tasting Notes
In the glass, the 2022 Le Petit Cheval Blanc shows a pale straw to light gold hue, shimmering with youthful brightness. The nose is intensely expressive yet precise, offering a beautiful interplay of citrus and florals: think Meyer lemon, grapefruit zest, white peach and pear, lifted by notes of jasmine, elderflower and fresh herbs. Subtle, high-quality oak brings delicate tones of vanilla pod, almond, and a faint hint of toasted brioche, all wrapped in a cool, chalky minerality. On the palate, this wine is both generous and finely etched. The core fruit is pure and vibrant—lime, stone fruit and crisp green apple—supported by a racy, saline backbone that keeps everything focused and energetic. The texture is silky and layered, with the richness coming more from concentration and lees aging than from heaviness. The finish is long, mouthwatering and mineral-driven, suggesting excellent aging potential. Production
Le Petit Cheval Blanc is sourced from carefully selected plots surrounding Château Cheval Blanc on the Right Bank of Bordeaux, where gravel, clay and sandy soils intersect, giving both tension and aromatic complexity to the white varieties. The vines are tended with meticulous, largely sustainable viticulture, including strict yield control and manual harvesting at optimal ripeness to preserve freshness and aromatic precision. In the cellar, the grape varieties—dominated by Sauvignon-based plantings complemented by other traditional white Bordeaux grapes—are gently pressed and vinified plot by plot. Fermentation and élevage take place in a combination of French oak barrels and larger vessels, with regular bâtonnage on fine lees to build texture and complexity while preserving the wine’s vibrant acidity and purity of fruit.

Food & Serving
This refined white Bordeaux is an excellent match for sophisticated seafood dishes such as turbot, sole meunière, scallops in a light beurre blanc or grilled langoustines, as well as dishes featuring fine shellfish and caviar. It also shines with roasted or poached poultry, veal in cream sauces, risotto with spring vegetables, and fresh goat or soft-rind cheeses. Serve well-chilled but not icy, ideally at 10–12°C (50–54°F), to allow the aromatics to open. Decanting for 30–45 minutes in its youth can help the wine fully express its layered bouquet and texture, particularly if served with more elaborate cuisine.
