Production
The fruit for Louis Jadot’s Montrachet Grand Cru is sourced from the fabled Montrachet vineyard, a perfectly exposed, south- and southeast-facing slope between Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. Here, thin, chalky limestone soils mixed with marl and good drainage allow Chardonnay to reach exceptional ripeness while preserving tension and minerality. Yields are kept very low to concentrate flavor and structure, and the grapes are harvested by hand at optimal maturity, with meticulous sorting to retain only the finest clusters. Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, a significant portion of which are new but always used with restraint to enhance, rather than dominate, the wine’s natural character. Extended lees aging, with periodic bâtonnage depending on the vintage’s profile, adds texture and complexity, followed by further élevage in barrel to harmonize fruit, oak, and minerality before bottling.

It shines with luxurious seafood such as lobster in butter sauce, scallops, turbot or sole with beurre blanc, and rich shellfish preparations.
