Sourced from select vineyards in Rioja, the Viña Real de Asua Reserva reflects the classic Rioja Alavesa terroir: limestone- and clay-rich soils at higher altitudes that naturally limit yields and promote elegance and aromatic intensity. The dominant grape is Tempranillo, harvested by hand at optimal ripeness to preserve fruit purity and natural acidity, often with a small proportion of complementary local varieties to enhance structure and aromatic lift. After careful sorting, the grapes undergo temperature-controlled fermentation to capture fresh, vibrant fruit, followed by extended maceration to extract fine tannins and color. The wine is then aged in a selection of high-quality oak barrels—traditionally a mix of French and American oak—for a significant period, allowing it to develop complexity, polish its tannins, and achieve the characteristic harmony expected of a Rioja Reserva before bottling and further bottle aging.
