The 2021 vintage typically shows a deep, youthful colour with a refined, elegant profile rather than sheer power. Expect aromas of blackcurrant, ripe plum, cedar, graphite, tobacco leaf, and subtle floral notes, with the oak contributing polish and spice rather than overwhelming the fruit. On the palate, it is structured and precise, with firm but polished tannins, fresh acidity, and a cool, mineral edge that reflects the vintage’s classic Bordeaux style. The magnum format supports slower evolution, so while it can be enjoyed relatively young after proper aeration, it also has excellent cellaring potential and should develop greater complexity over time.

Production
Produced at Château Mouton Rothschild in Pauillac, the wine benefits from some of the estate’s finest terroir: gravelly soils over a limestone and clay subsoil, which encourage depth, finesse, and Cabernet Sauvignon-driven structure. The 2021 growing season in Bordeaux was marked by freshness and a more restrained style, resulting in wines of balance and aromatic precision. Harvesting is carried out parcel by parcel at optimal ripeness, followed by careful sorting and vinification in the estate’s state-of-the-art cellars. The wine is aged in French oak barrels to preserve purity of fruit while adding texture, complexity, and integration.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for classic red-meat dishes such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, entrecôte, or duck breast, as well as truffled dishes and mature hard cheeses. Serve at 16-18°C and decant for 1-2 hours if drinking young; the magnum format will benefit from a slightly longer aeration when first opened.
