Tasting Notes
In the glass, the 2021 Le Clarence de Haut-Brion shows a deep ruby hue with purple highlights. The nose is poised and expressive, with notes of dark berry fruit, plum, cedar, tobacco, and subtle floral and smoky nuances. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and beautifully balanced, combining ripe blackcurrant and blackberry flavors with graphite, spice, and finely integrated oak. The tannins are supple yet persistent, giving the wine a graceful framework and good length. While already appealing in youth, it should also develop additional nuance over the next 8–15 years.

Sourced from the gravelly soils of Pessac-Léognan, the terroir around Château Haut-Brion is one of the most revered in Bordeaux, prized for its excellent drainage and ability to produce wines of depth and finesse. The grapes are carefully selected and harvested parcel by parcel, ensuring the best fruit is retained for this cuvée. Vinification follows the estate’s meticulous standards, with temperature-controlled fermentation and élevage in oak barrels to preserve freshness, texture, and complexity.

This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, duck breast, beef tenderloin, game birds, and mushroom-based dishes. It also works well with aged hard cheeses.
