The nose is immediately complex and layered: waves of blackberries, blackcurrants and wild blueberries are interlaced with lifted notes of violets, garrigue herbs, cracked pepper and graphite. As it opens, more savoury nuances emerge—truffle, forest floor, smoked meat and fine leather—anchored by a striking mineral edge that reflects the galet-strewn terroir. Production
Hommage à Jacques Perrin is sourced from some of Château de Beaucastel’s oldest and most privileged parcels in the northern sector of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, where the famous rolled galets (rounded river stones) sit atop clay and limestone soils. These stones store heat by day and release it at night, helping the Mourvèdre, Syrah, Grenache and Counoise to reach perfect maturity, while the mistral wind keeps the vines healthy and the biodynamic vineyard practices preserve soil life and biodiversity. All grapes (approximately 60% Mourvèdre, 20% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 5% Counoise in 2021) are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness, meticulously sorted, and vinified variety by variety. Fermentations take place in temperature-controlled vats, with gentle extraction to preserve finesse, followed by élevage in large oak foudres and carefully selected barrels to refine the structure and complexity without masking the character of the fruit or the terroir.
