Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Barolo typically shows a translucent garnet hue with the depth and precision expected from Ravera. The bouquet is refined and layered, unfolding with notes of red cherry, dried rose, violet, wild herbs, and subtle spice, alongside the earthy, mineral signature that gives this cru its sense of place. On the palate, it is structured and energetic, with firm yet polished tannins, vibrant acidity, and a core of red berry fruit framed by licorice, tobacco, and savory mineral tones. The 2020 vintage should be approachable in youth with aeration, but it has the concentration and architecture to reward extended aging for well over a decade, and likely much longer in magnum.

Ravera is one of the most respected vineyard sites in the commune of Novello, in the southern part of the Barolo appellation, known for its cool exposition and limestone-rich soils that lend wines both tension and aromatic clarity. Vietti’s approach in the vineyard and cellar emphasizes careful parcel selection and precise harvesting, followed by traditional vinification designed to preserve the purity, structure, and site expression of the fruit.

This Barolo pairs beautifully with braised beef, truffle risotto, game birds, veal shank, and aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least 1–2 hours to allow the wine’s aromatics and tannins to open fully, especially in its early years.
