The Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) vines, complemented by small amounts of Merlot and sometimes other Bordeaux varieties, are carefully tended and harvested by hand to ensure optimal fruit selection. In the cellar, the wine undergoes a meticulous vinification, with fermentation in temperature-controlled tanks and a long, structured maceration to extract fine tannins and aromatic depth. Aging takes place in a combination of French and American oak—both new and used—followed by further maturation in larger wooden vats and in bottle, totaling around five years of élevage before release, which gives Valbuena its hallmark harmony and refinement.
