Production
Sourced from select parcels within the famed Masseto hill and surrounding vineyards in Bolgheri, on the Tuscan coast, Massetino benefits from a unique combination of clay-rich soils, maritime breezes, and abundant sunlight. The terroir gives Merlot remarkable depth and freshness, with small additions of Cabernet Franc adding tension and aromatic lift. Grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, parcel by parcel, to preserve purity and balance. In the winery, fermentation takes place in a combination of stainless steel and small oak vats, with gentle extraction to emphasize elegance over sheer power. The wine is then aged in French oak barriques (a portion new) for a period similar in rigor—though slightly shorter—than Masseto itself, allowing the tannins to refine and the flavors to harmonize before bottling.

The 2020 Masseto Massetino is a versatile yet luxurious food wine, pairing beautifully with dishes that echo its depth and texture. Think classic Tuscan fare such as bistecca alla fiorentina, braised lamb shank, or wild boar ragù over pappardelle, as well as truffle risotto, roasted game birds, and aged cheeses like pecorino Toscano or Parmigiano Reggiano.
