Production
Finca Ygay is the historic estate of Marqués de Murrieta, a high-altitude vineyard site with a mix of clay, limestone, and gravel soils that naturally limit yields and enhance concentration. Grapes are hand-harvested parcel by parcel at optimal ripeness to preserve freshness and varietal character, then carefully sorted on arrival at the bodega. The blend is Tempranillo-led, with small portions of traditional Rioja varieties such as Graciano, Mazuelo, and Garnacha contributing spice, structure, and aromatic lift. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel with controlled temperatures and gentle extraction, followed by extended aging in high-quality oak barrels and further bottle maturation to meet and exceed Reserva requirements. The Methusalem format is bottled with particular attention to cork quality and filling, ensuring long-term aging potential and slow, refined development.
