Tasting Notes
In the glass, the 2020 Château l'Eglise-Clinet shows a deep, opaque ruby to purple core with a vibrant, youthful rim—an immediate sign of its concentration and aging potential. The nose is intense and layered: expect waves of ripe black cherry, blackberry compote and dark plum, intertwined with violets, graphite, incense, tobacco leaf and well-integrated new oak nuances of cedar, cocoa and sweet spice. On the palate, this is full-bodied and impeccably balanced, with dense, polished tannins and a fresh, mineral-driven backbone. Flavors of blackcurrant, black cherry and damson unfold slowly, framed by notes of truffle, espresso, dark chocolate, and a subtle savory, earthy undertone characteristic of great Pomerol. The finish is long, persistent and finely etched, with precision more than sheer weight. Production
Château l'Eglise-Clinet lies on the prized central plateau of Pomerol, where gravel and clay soils over an iron-rich subsoil produce Merlot and Cabernet Franc of exceptional complexity and natural concentration. The vineyard is composed primarily of old vines, many over 40 years of age, which are meticulously tended and harvested by hand to ensure only perfectly ripe, healthy fruit is selected. In the cellar, the grapes are carefully sorted and vinified in temperature-controlled vats, with fermentation and maceration tailored parcel by parcel to preserve purity and terroir expression. The wine is then aged in a high proportion of French oak barriques (a significant percentage new), where it develops its hallmark structure, aromatic complexity and polish before bottling, with magnums specially prepared for extended maturation.

Food & Serving
This 2020 Pomerol is a natural partner for richly flavored, refined dishes such as roast lamb with rosemary, beef tenderloin, duck breast, game birds, or veal with truffle jus. It also pairs beautifully with mushroom-based dishes, aged hard cheeses and dishes featuring black truffle or wild herbs. Serve at 16–18°C (60–64°F) to highlight its aromatics and balance. While approachable with a generous decant, younger bottles—especially in magnum—benefit from 2–3 hours in a decanter to allow the structure to soften and the complex bouquet of dark fruit, florals and spice to fully unfurl.
