Description
The 2020 Château La Vaisinerie Puisseguin Saint-Émilion is a classic Right Bank Bordeaux that brings together elegance, structure, and approachable charm. Sourced from the prized limestone and clay soils of Puisseguin Saint-Émilion, it reflects the region’s long tradition of Merlot-led wines with depth and finesse.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby hue with youthful purple reflections. The nose opens with ripe black cherry, plum, and blackberry, lifted by hints of violets, cedar, and subtle earthy spice.
On the palate, expect a supple yet well-framed red with layers of dark fruit, fresh acidity, and polished tannins. The finish is balanced and persistent, with enough structure to suggest several years of graceful aging, while remaining enjoyable in its youth with proper aeration.
Production
Puisseguin Saint-Émilion lies on the northern edge of the Saint-Émilion area, where limestone and clay soils help preserve freshness and give the wines their characteristic mineral backbone. The 2020 vintage benefited from a warm growing season that generally favored ripe fruit development, while careful harvesting and traditional Bordeaux vinification would have helped retain balance and varietal purity.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, mushroom dishes, and hard cheeses such as Comté or aged Gouda. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for 30–60 minutes if drinking young to allow the aromas and tannins to open up fully.
