The vineyard is planted predominantly to Merlot, complemented by a significant proportion of Cabernet Franc, with old vines adding complexity and intensity. Harvesting is done by hand, parcel by parcel and often in several passes, allowing only perfectly ripe, healthy bunches to be picked. In the cellar, the lots are vinified separately in small tanks, with gentle extraction to preserve finesse and aromatic purity rather than raw power. The wine then ages in French oak barrels (a high proportion of them new, though always carefully integrated) for well over a year, allowing the tannins to refine and the complex bouquet to develop before bottling into this long-lived magnum format.
