Tasting Notes
In the glass, the 2019 Giusto di Notri shows a dense, opaque ruby-purple core, with a vibrant, inky rim that hints at its concentration and youth. The nose is complex and expressive, layering dark blackberry and black plum with notes of graphite, cedar, wild herbs, and a smoky, tarry minerality, underscored by subtle hints of cocoa and tobacco. On the palate, this is full-bodied and intense, yet finely proportioned, with beautifully ripe tannins that are abundant but polished. The rich core of blackcurrant, blackberry and black plum is lifted by notes of Mediterranean herbs, licorice, and a touch of balsamic, leading into darker nuances of tar and campfire ash on the long, persistent finish. The structure is firm and built for aging, with fresh acidity keeping everything in balance. In magnum, the 2019 has excellent aging potential: it will start to show more complexity and tertiary notes after 6–8 years from vintage, and can evolve gracefully for 15–20 years or more under proper cellaring.

Production
Giusto di Notri comes from Tua Rita’s vineyards around Suvereto in coastal Tuscany, an area blessed with a warm Mediterranean climate, cooling sea breezes, and mineral-rich soils that combine clay, silt and pebble-rich alluvium. These conditions are particularly well suited to Bordeaux varieties, giving depth, ripeness and a distinctive savory edge. The Cabernet Sauvignon (80%), Cabernet Franc (12%) and Merlot (8%) are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, parcel by parcel, to preserve both fruit purity and natural freshness. In the cellar, the grapes are carefully sorted, then fermented in temperature-controlled tanks to achieve precise extraction of color, aroma and fine tannins. The wine is subsequently aged in high-quality oak barriques (largely French), where it gains additional structure, integration and complexity before being bottled—here in the magnum format that further enhances its aging curve.

Food & Serving
This powerful Tuscan red is a natural partner for rich, savory dishes: think bistecca alla fiorentina, braised beef short ribs, roast lamb with rosemary, venison stews, or aged hard cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano and pecorino. It also pairs beautifully with truffle dishes, mushroom ragù, and slow-cooked ragù alla Toscana over pappardelle. Serve at around 16–18°C (60–64°F) to highlight both its aromatics and structure. Given its youth and concentration, decanting is highly recommended: 1–2 hours for more immediate drinking, and even longer if you prefer the tannins supple and the bouquet fully open—especially from magnum.

Tua Rita was founded in 1984 when Rita Tua and her husband Virgilio purchased a small property with just two hectares of vines in Suvereto, on the Tuscan coast. What began as a modest project quickly evolved into one of Tuscany’s most admired cult estates, thanks to meticulous vineyard work and an unwavering focus on quality. Over the years, the holdings expanded to around 30 hectares, and Tua Rita’s wines—particularly their Supertuscans—earned international acclaim for their depth, elegance and consistency. After Virgilio’s passing in 2010, their daughter Simena and her husband Stefano Frascolla took over day-to-day management, continuing the family’s exacting standards. Today, Tua Rita is recognized as a benchmark producer in the Maremma/Suvereto area, regularly receiving top scores from leading wine critics and reinforcing its reputation as one of the stars of modern Italian wine.
