In the glass, the 2019 Continuum shows a deep garnet-purple hue, dense and almost opaque at the core with a vibrant rim that hints at its youth and energy. The nose is wonderfully layered and perfumed, offering waves of violets, lavender, rosehip, and redcurrant wrapped around ripe cherries and blackcurrants. Underneath the floral and fruit core unfold notes of cigar box, dark chocolate, laurel leaf, and a distinctive crushed wet slate minerality. On the palate, this is a full-bodied, structured wine that balances intensity with real finesse. Lively black fruits are interwoven with red cherry, redcurrant, exotic spice and a graphite-like mineral thread. The tannins are firm, gravelly and super-ripe, providing a tailored frame without ever feeling harsh, while the acidity carries the flavors long across the palate, finishing with remarkable fragrance and freshness. Production
The fruit for the 2019 Continuum Proprietary Red comes exclusively from the estate’s dramatic site on Pritchard Hill in Napa Valley, a high-elevation terroir known for its rocky, volcanic soils, intense sunlight and cooling mountain breezes. These conditions naturally restrict yields and produce small, concentrated berries with remarkable aromatic and structural complexity. The blend is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Cabernet Franc, 7% Petit Verdot and 6% Merlot, all hand-harvested parcel by parcel at optimal ripeness. In the cellar, the must is vinified with meticulous care to preserve purity and detail, followed by élevage predominantly in French oak—about two-thirds new barrels, with the remainder in second- and third-use casks and a single concrete amphora. This careful balance of new and seasoned wood, plus amphora, allows the wine’s site-driven character and freshness to shine through while adding polish and depth.

Food & Serving
This magnum is ideal for the table and for special occasions, pairing beautifully with richly flavored dishes such as dry-aged ribeye, roast lamb with rosemary, venison, braised short ribs or truffled mushroom dishes. It also works wonderfully with aged hard cheeses like Comté, Parmigiano-Reggiano or mature cheddar. Serve at 16–18°C (about 60–64°F) to highlight both freshness and complexity. Given its youth and structure, decanting is strongly recommended—at least 2–3 hours for current enjoyment, and even longer if you prefer more aromatic openness and softer tannins; in 10+ years, a shorter decant of around 1 hour will usually suffice to let the wine fully express its character.
