Production
The Lenchen vineyard, situated in the heart of the Rheingau, is known for its south- to southwest-facing slopes and well-drained soils rich in loess, clay and slate, which give the wines both generosity of fruit and a pronounced mineral line. Peter Jakob Kühn farms his vines biodynamically, focusing on low yields, biodiversity and careful canopy management to achieve optimal ripeness and balance. Grapes are hand-harvested in multiple passes to ensure only the best, perfectly ripe and healthy berries are selected. In the cellar, the must is treated gently and allowed to ferment spontaneously with native yeasts, typically in large traditional oak casks (Stück or Doppelstück) or old wooden vats. Extended lees contact and minimal intervention help build texture and complexity while preserving the clarity and precision of the Lenchen site, resulting in a dry Riesling of remarkable purity and depth.
