Tasting Notes
In the glass, the 2019 Messorio is typically deep and intense, with a vibrant dark ruby core. The nose opens with layers of ripe black cherry, plum, blackberry, and graphite, often lifted by floral notes, Mediterranean herbs, cocoa, and subtle spice from oak aging. On the palate, it is richly textured yet polished, with supple tannins, bright acidity, and a long, persistent finish. The wine combines ripe fruit with minerality and freshness, giving it both immediate appeal and significant cellaring potential. It should reward aging for many years, developing even greater complexity with time.

Production
Messorio comes from Le Macchiole’s carefully selected Merlot parcels in Bolgheri, on Tuscany’s Tyrrhenian coast, where warm days, cooling sea breezes, and well-drained soils help produce fruit with ripeness and definition. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified with a focus on precision and purity, followed by maturation in oak to add structure and complexity while preserving the wine’s layered fruit character.

Food & Serving
This is a superb match for rich, flavorful dishes such as grilled ribeye, braised lamb, venison, or beef tenderloin with mushroom sauce. It also pairs beautifully with aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting for one to two hours is recommended, especially if opening the wine young.
