The color clings to the sides of the glass, suggesting significant extract and structure. The nose is intensely aromatic and complex, with waves of ripe blackcurrant, blackberry compote, and black cherry liqueur, wrapped in notes of dark chocolate, roasted coffee beans, and crème de cassis. Layered beneath are subtler nuances of violets, graphite, warm baking spices, and a touch of licorice, all framed by polished, high-quality French oak. On the palate, this is a full-bodied, luxuriously textured Cabernet with tremendous depth and weight. Production
The 2019 Wraith is sourced from Hundred Acre’s top Napa Valley vineyards, situated on carefully chosen slopes and benchlands that offer a mix of volcanic soils, gravel, and well-draining loams ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon. Low yields and meticulous vineyard work—hand-tending, green harvesting, and multiple passes through the vines—ensure only perfectly ripe, concentrated berries make it to the winery. Harvest is carried out entirely by hand, often in the cool of the night or early morning to preserve freshness and aromatics. In the cellar, the fruit is sorted with extreme rigor before undergoing small-batch fermentation, typically in temperature-controlled vessels to coax out maximum color, flavor, and fine tannin. The wine is then aged for an extended period in predominantly new French oak barrels, which adds structure, texture, and aromatic complexity without overwhelming the pure, dense Napa fruit, resulting in a Cabernet of remarkable richness, polish, and longevity.
