Production
The fruit for Altagracia is sourced exclusively from the famed Eisele Vineyard in the northeastern corner of Napa Valley, just east of Calistoga at the foot of the Palisades mountains. This historic site, first planted to vines in the 1880s, sits on well-drained alluvial soils over river cobbles and gravel, which naturally limit vigor and concentrate flavor. The vineyard has been farmed organically since 1998 and biodynamically since 2000, with meticulous handwork and careful yield control to ensure optimal ripeness and balance. Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are hand-harvested at night or in the cool early morning, sorted with great precision, and vinified in small lots to preserve purity of fruit and terroir expression. The wine is then aged for approximately 22–26 months in French oak barrels, a significant portion new, allowing the oak to contribute elegant structure and aromatic complexity without overwhelming the vineyard character.
