Château La Mission Haut-Brion lies in the heart of Pessac-Léognan, just across the road from Château Haut-Brion, on deep gravel soils mixed with sand and clay over a mineral-rich subsoil. This terroir, warmed and drained by the gravel, is ideal for ripening Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot while preserving freshness and aromatic complexity. The 2019 grapes were carefully hand-harvested parcel by parcel at optimal maturity, with rigorous sorting to ensure only the finest berries made it to the winery. Vinification typically takes place in temperature-controlled vats, where each plot is fermented separately to capture its individual character, followed by an extended maturation in high-quality French oak barriques (a significant proportion new). The result is a wine that marries density and structure with the distinctive smoky, earthy elegance that has made La Mission Haut-Brion so sought after.
