Production
The vineyards of Château La Mission Haut-Brion lie on the famed gravel and sand soils of Pessac-Léognan, in the Graves region, with excellent natural drainage and underlying clay that helps maintain water balance—ideal conditions for producing concentrated, aromatic white wines. Planted predominantly to Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc, the vines benefit from meticulous vineyard work and low yields to achieve maximum ripeness and flavor intensity. Grapes are hand-harvested in small batches at optimal maturity, parcel by parcel, to preserve freshness and precision. In the cellar, the must is gently pressed and vinified with great care, typically undergoing fermentation and élevage in French oak barrels (a portion new), with regular lees stirring to build texture and complexity, all while preserving the wine’s remarkable clarity and tension.

This 2019 Château La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc is a superb match for refined cuisine. It pairs beautifully with dishes such as butter-poached lobster, scallops, turbot or sole with beurre blanc, roasted chicken with morels, and creamy seafood risottos. With just 21 hectares under vine across Pessac and Léognan, and extremely limited production of its white wine, the estate has achieved a reputation for precision, depth, and age-worthiness that places it firmly among the elite producers of Graves and all of Bordeaux.
