Château La Mission Haut-Brion lies in the heart of Pessac-Léognan, just outside Bordeaux, on deep gravel and pebble soils over clay and sand that naturally encourage excellent drainage and low yields—ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The vineyards are meticulously tended, with careful canopy management and selective hand-harvesting at optimal ripeness to preserve freshness and purity of fruit. In the cellar, the grapes undergo rigorous sorting before fermentation in temperature-controlled vats, with gentle extraction to capture elegance and structure rather than heaviness. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels (a significant proportion new), where it develops its signature combination of smoky-mineral complexity, velvety texture and refined tannic backbone.
