Production
Château Gruaud-Larose sits on some of Saint-Julien’s finest terroir, just behind Château Branaire-Ducru and alongside Château Lagrange, on ancient, gravelly deposits left by the Gironde hundreds of thousands of years ago. These deep gravel soils, with excellent drainage and ideal exposure, are perfectly suited to Cabernet Sauvignon, which forms roughly two-thirds of the 2019 blend, supported by Merlot with a small proportion of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc for extra color, spice, and aromatic lift. The vineyards are farmed organically (with parcels already certified and others in conversion), emphasizing respect for the environment and the character of the land. Grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness, sorted carefully, and vinified parcel by parcel to preserve nuance and precision.
