Production
Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste sits on the Grand-Puy plateau, west of the village of Pauillac, on the Left Bank of the Gironde. The terroir is classic Pauillac: deep gravel soils over limestone and clay, providing excellent drainage, natural vine stress and ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon to ripen fully while retaining freshness and minerality. The 2019 blend is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (around 83%), complemented by Merlot and a small proportion of Cabernet Franc, all harvested parcel by parcel at optimal ripeness. After meticulous sorting in the cellar, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats, followed by maturation in French oak barrels (a significant proportion new), where the wine gains structure, integration and aromatic complexity. Bottled in magnum, the larger format allows for a slower, more graceful evolution, preserving fruit purity and nuance over decades.
