Description
Château Duhart-Milon is one of Pauillac’s most respected Grand Cru Classé estates, known for delivering classic Left Bank character with admirable precision and balance. The 2019 vintage offers the structure, depth, and refinement that have made this historic Bordeaux property a favourite among collectors and lovers of elegant Cabernet-dominant wines.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine typically shows a deep ruby-purple hue, reflecting its concentration and youthful energy. The nose opens with blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar, graphite, and subtle violet notes, framed by well-integrated oak spice and a touch of tobacco.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with firm yet polished tannins, bright freshness, and a layered core of dark fruit, mineral nuance, and savoury complexity. The finish is long and precise, with excellent balance and the structure to age gracefully over the coming decade and beyond.
Production
Produced in Pauillac on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, the wine benefits from the region’s gravelly soils, which are ideal for ripening Cabernet Sauvignon and contributing to the estate’s signature power and finesse. Grapes are typically harvested with careful parcel selection to preserve freshness and ripeness, followed by vinification in line with classic Bordeaux methods, with fermentation and ageing in oak to build structure, complexity, and refinement.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, beef fillet, game, duck breast, or dishes with earthy components such as mushrooms and truffle. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if opening young to allow the wine to fully reveal its aromatics and texture.
Producer
Château Duhart-Milon is a historic Pauillac estate classified as a Fourth Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. Closely associated with the Rothschild family for many years, the château has earned a strong reputation for producing Cabernet-based wines that combine classical Pauillac structure with elegance and ageing potential. Its consistent quality has secured its place among the notable names of Bordeaux’s Left Bank.
