The 2018 Château Lafite Rothschild comes from the historic Lafite vineyards in Pauillac, on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, where deep gravel soils mixed with sand and limestone over a well‑drained subsoil are ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate’s meticulously tended vines are harvested parcel by parcel, with strict selection of bunches to ensure only the finest fruit makes it into the grand vin. In 2018 the blend is 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8.5% Merlot and 0.5% Petit Verdot, fermented in temperature‑controlled vats before being aged in high‑quality French oak barriques, a large proportion of which are new. This careful, traditional vinification and élevage allow the wine to express both the character of the vintage and the signature finesse of Lafite.
