Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, concentrated colour hinting at its richness and structure. The bouquet is layered and highly expressive, with blackcurrant, blackberry, black cherry, and plum lifted by cedar, cigar box, graphite, truffle, and subtle spice; with air, notes of violet, smoke, mocha, and dark chocolate emerge. On the palate, the wine is powerful yet impeccably balanced, with silky tannins, fresh acidity, and impressive aromatic depth. The finish is long, mineral, and refined, and while already captivating, this is a wine built for decades of ageing.

Production
The vineyards of Château Haut-Brion lie on gravelly soils with clay and sand in the Pessac-Léognan appellation, a terroir that gives the wine its signature mix of richness, finesse, and minerality. The grapes are hand-harvested parcel by parcel and carefully sorted before vinification, with fermentation carried out under temperature control to preserve purity and detail. The wine is then matured for around 18 to 22 months in French oak barriques, with a significant proportion renewed each year to support structure and complexity without overpowering the fruit.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for lamb rack, beef fillet, venison, and braised veal, as well as earthy dishes such as truffle or porcini mushrooms. It also pairs beautifully with mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant when young to allow the wine to open fully and show its layered aromatics.
