Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Montrachet shows a clear, luminous pale gold colour with brilliant highlights that hint at both youth and concentration. The nose is very intense and layered, opening with almond and marzipan, vanilla pod and fine oak spice, then building into floral notes of honeysuckle and acacia, with subtle citrus oil, ripe stone fruit and a delicate mineral nuance. With air, the bouquet becomes increasingly complex and refined. On the palate, the wine is at once ample and tightly focused: rich, mouth-filling texture balanced by a precise, almost crystalline freshness. Flavours of marzipan, toasted almond, vanilla and lightly caramelised citrus are wrapped around a dense, juicy core of yellow plum, white peach and lemon cream, all carried by a saline, chalky minerality. The finish is extraordinarily long and seamless, echoing floral and nutty notes long after each sip – the kind of length that has led critics to call it “like drinking the purest water.” Still youthful, the 2014 Montrachet Grand Cru has substantial aging potential; properly cellared, it should evolve beautifully for 15–20 years or more, gaining further complexity in hazelnut, brioche and truffle tones.

Production
This Grand Cru is sourced from the legendary Montrachet vineyard, straddling the communes of Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet in the heart of the Côte de Beaune. The terroir here is exceptional: a well-drained, limestone-rich slope with thin, stony soils that naturally limit yields and confer remarkable concentration, power and minerality to Chardonnay. Grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness in small crates to protect the fruit, with rigorous sorting to ensure that only pristine clusters from the finest parcels are used. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels, followed by extended maturation on fine lees in French oak (a proportion new), allowing the wine to develop its signature depth, creamy texture and layered complexity while preserving the precision and tension that define great Montrachet.

Food & Serving
This is a haute-cuisine white Burgundy that shines alongside the finest dishes: think butter-poached lobster, turbot or sole with beurre blanc, scallops in a champagne cream sauce, Bresse chicken with morels, or delicate veal dishes with light jus. It also pairs superbly with refined, aged cheeses such as Comté, Beaufort or aged farmhouse Gruyère. Serve cool but not cold, ideally around 11–13°C (52–55°F), to allow the full aromatic spectrum to unfold. Decanting 30–60 minutes before serving is recommended for a young bottle like the 2014, helping the wine to open and reveal its full depth and nuance.
