Description
Château Lascombes is one of Margaux’s most recognizable names, offering the polished style and finesse that have made this commune so admired. Classified as a Deuxième Cru Classé in 1855, the 2014 vintage combines classic Bordeaux structure with a more refined, elegant expression of the year.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby-red color with garnet highlights. The nose opens with red and black fruits such as cherry, cassis, and plum, layered with floral nuances, cedar, spice, and a subtle mineral edge.
On the palate, the wine is precise and well balanced, with fine-grained tannins, lively acidity, and a supple yet structured core. Notes of spice, tobacco, and a touch of earth lead into a long, clear finish. The 2014 vintage has very good aging potential and should continue to develop gracefully over the coming years.
Production
Sourced from the gravelly soils of Margaux with clay and limestone elements, the vineyards lend the wine both elegance and definition. The grapes were hand-harvested and vinified parcel by parcel to preserve the character of each plot, before maturing for 18–20 months in French oak barrels with a moderate proportion of new wood.
Food & Serving
Serve with veal loin, lamb, or poultry in rich sauces, as well as mature cheeses. Ideal serving temperature is 16–18°C, and decanting for about 1–2 hours is recommended if drinking young to allow the wine to open fully.
Producer
Château Lascombes has long been a benchmark estate in Margaux and one of the leading classified growths of the appellation. Its history dates back centuries, and today it is known for combining traditional Bordeaux craftsmanship with modern precision, producing wines that are both expressive and finely structured.
