2013 Salon S Le Mesnil Magnum

Salon’s 2013 S Le Mesnil Magnum is one of Champagne’s rarest expressions of precision and purity, made only in exceptional vintages and released in extremely limited quantities. Crafted exclusively from Chardonnay sourced in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, it represents the pinnacle of Blanc de Blancs Champagne and a modern benchmark for elegance and longevity.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a pale golden hue with a fine, persistent mousse. The nose is restrained yet deeply complex, unfolding with white flowers, citrus peel, green orchard fruit, chalk, and subtle toasted notes as it opens. On the palate, Salon 2013 is expected to be taut, mineral-driven, and razor-sharp, with layers of lemon, pear, white peach, and saline freshness carried by a very precise mousse. The finish is long, clean, and chalky, and like all great Salon vintages, it has exceptional aging potential, rewarding cellaring for decades.

Production
Produced in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, one of Champagne’s most celebrated Grand Cru villages, Salon comes from chalk-rich terroir that gives the wine its signature tension, purity, and minerality. The estate is known for making only one cuvée, from Chardonnay alone, in years deemed worthy of the Salon name; the grapes are harvested by hand and vinified with a focus on preserving freshness, transparency, and the character of the site.

Food & Serving
This magnum is ideal with refined dishes such as oysters, caviar, scallops, sashimi, lobster, or delicately prepared poultry and creamy risottos. Serve well chilled, around 8–10°C, and while decanting is generally not necessary, a brief aeration can help the wine reveal more of its aromatic depth if opened young.
