Description
2013 Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs is the purest expression of Ruinart’s house style: an exceptional vintage Champagne made entirely from Chardonnay, sourced from the great terroirs of Champagne. Elegant, precise, and luminous, it shows the finesse and depth that have made Dom Ruinart one of the most revered prestige cuvées in the region. First created in tribute to Dom Thierry Ruinart, the house’s namesake and a key figure in Champagne’s early history, it carries more than two centuries of heritage in every bottle.
Tasting Notes
Pale gold in the glass with a fine, persistent mousse, this vintage Blanc de Blancs immediately conveys freshness and refinement. The nose opens with white flowers, citrus zest, green apple, and chalky minerality, gradually revealing hints of brioche, toasted almond, and subtle smoke.
On the palate, it is taut yet layered, with bright acidity, a silky texture, and excellent tension. Notes of lemon curd, pear, oyster shell, and pastry dough build through the finish, which is long, saline, and precise. It already offers impressive depth, but the structure and balance suggest strong aging potential over the coming decade and beyond.
Production
Made exclusively from Chardonnay, Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs comes from carefully selected vineyards in Champagne, where chalk-rich soils lend the wine its distinctive mineral spine and finesse. The grapes are harvested by hand to preserve purity and quality, with vinification carried out to emphasize precision, freshness, and the luminous character of the vintage. Extended lees aging contributes complexity, texture, and the signature Dom Ruinart elegance.
Food & Serving
This Champagne pairs beautifully with oysters, scallops, caviar, lobster, sushi, and refined poultry dishes, as well as aged Comté or other nutty hard cheeses. Serve well chilled, ideally around 8–10°C, and consider a short decant only if you want to open up its more expressive layers after release. Best enjoyed in a large white wine glass to capture its aromatics and texture.
Producer
Founded in 1729, Ruinart is the oldest established Champagne house, and it remains a benchmark for Chardonnay-driven Champagne. The house is especially celebrated for its Blanc de Blancs style, combining historical prestige with a modern reputation for elegance and consistency. Dom Ruinart stands as the maison’s flagship cuvée and one of Champagne’s most admired luxury wines.
