Don Maximiano Founder’s Reserve 2011 is the flagship red blend of Viña Errázuriz, one of Chile’s most respected wineries, and a benchmark expression of the Aconcagua Valley. Combining Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Carmenère, and Petit Verdot, it captures both Chilean character and an international level of polish, built for longevity and elegance.

Tasting Notes
Deep, concentrated ruby in the glass, this vintage opens with aromas of cassis, black cherry, and blackberry, layered with cedar, tobacco, and graphite. With time in the glass, subtle notes of dark chocolate, spice, and mineral lift begin to emerge. The palate is powerful yet refined, with fine-grained tannins, fresh acidity, and impressive balance. The finish is long, precise, and savory, with enough structure to continue developing beautifully over many years.

Production
The grapes come from carefully selected vineyards in the Aconcagua Valley near Panquehue, where the combination of warm days, cooling influences, and well-drained soils helps produce structured, elegant Bordeaux-style blends. The fruit was harvested by hand and vinified using traditional methods to preserve purity and structure. Aging for 18–22 months in French oak barriques added depth, spice, and textural finesse.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent partner for beef fillet, lamb, game, or other richly flavored meat dishes, and it also works well with mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours if drinking now to allow the wine to open fully.
