Description

From one of Chambolle-Musigny’s most coveted Premier Cru vineyards, the 2010 Chartron et Trébuchet Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses is a rare and highly collectible expression of Pinot Noir. Produced in tiny quantities, this cuvée captures the romantic, sensual finesse that has made Les Amoureuses legendary among Burgundy lovers. The 2010 vintage is renowned for its balance and purity, offering a beautifully mature yet still vibrant rendition of this iconic terroir.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this 2010 Les Amoureuses shows a luminous, medium ruby hue with subtle garnet reflections along the rim, a sign of graceful bottle age rather than fatigue. The nose is immediately captivating and complex: wild raspberry, ripe strawberry and red cherry intertwine with delicate notes of violet and rose petal, supported by hints of dried orange peel, fine spice and a chalky, mineral lift. On the palate, the wine is silk personified—medium-bodied yet intense, with ultra-fine, filigreed tannins and a precise, mouthwatering acidity that keeps everything effortlessly afloat. The core of red berries is layered with subtle notes of white pepper, tea leaf, truffle, forest floor and a gentle, sous-bois earthiness that has developed with age. The finish is long, persistent and caressingly refined, echoing floral, mineral and sweet spice notes. At this stage, the wine is in a beautiful drinking window; well-stored bottles can continue to evolve for several more years, but this 2010 is now offering its full spectrum of mature Premier Cru complexity.

Production
Les Amoureuses sits on a privileged mid-slope position in Chambolle-Musigny, with well-drained, limestone-rich soils interlaced with clay and small stones that encourage deep root penetration and naturally restricted yields. This terroir is famed for delivering wines of extreme finesse rather than sheer power. The Pinot Noir grapes are typically harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, with careful selection to ensure only perfectly healthy, concentrated fruit makes it into the cuvée. As a quality-focused négociant, Chartron et Trébuchet sources from top growers and vinifies traditionally: gentle destemming, temperature-controlled fermentation to preserve aromatics, and a patient élevage in French oak barrels (with a judicious proportion of new oak) to add subtle texture and complexity without overpowering the delicacy of Les Amoureuses. Bottling is usually done with minimal intervention to retain the vineyard’s signature perfume and finesse.

Food & Serving
This Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses shines with refined, delicately flavored dishes that mirror its elegance. Think veal medallions with morels, roast pigeon or quail, duck breast with a berry reduction, or simply a perfectly roasted chicken with thyme and jus. It also pairs beautifully with mushroom-based dishes—truffle risotto, wild mushroom fricassée, or soft, earthy cheeses like Reblochon and Brillat-Savarin. Serve at 15–16°C (59–61°F) to highlight its aromatic complexity and silken texture. For a 2010 of this pedigree, a gentle decant of 30–45 minutes is recommended to let the bouquet fully unfurl, taking care not to overexpose the wine to air for too long.

Producer
Chartron et Trébuchet was founded in 1984 in Puligny-Montrachet by Jean-René Chartron of Domaine Jean Chartron and local merchant Louis Trébuchet, with the ambition of crafting top-quality négociant wines that faithfully express Burgundy’s greatest terroirs. While historically best known for its white wines from Puligny and surrounding villages, the house has also produced a handful of extremely rare, high-end reds such as this Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses. In 2016, Chartron et Trébuchet became part of Maison Martenot within the Grands Chais de France (GCF) group, gaining access to broader resources while maintaining a focus on appellation integrity and site expression. Their ability to secure fruit from prestigious vineyards like Les Amoureuses underscores their standing in the region and makes this bottling a particularly sought-after piece for Burgundy collectors.
