Rooted in Westhofen’s limestone soils, it balances 95 g/L of residual sugar with lively acidity and a modest 10% alcohol.

Tasting Notes
The wine’s appearance is not described in the supplied notes. On the nose, floral Scheurebe aromas take the lead. The palate brings Kerner’s subtle spice and Riesling’s refreshing acidity, with tangy rhubarb and grapefruit alongside a toasted rye-bread note that lingers on the finish.

Production
The old vines around Westhofen are rooted in limestone, and winemaker Florian Fauth drew on his knowledge of the local vineyards and terroir to make a precise wine in the relatively warm 2023 vintage. The Kerner, Scheurebe and Riesling were blended in a single cask for vinocentral. Harvesting and vinification methods are not specified.

Food & Serving
Its sweetness and refreshing acidity make it a good match for gently spiced dishes, fruit-based desserts or blue cheese. Serve well chilled; decanting is not usually necessary for a wine of this style.

Producer
Weingut Seehof is closely tied to its home in Westhofen and the wider Wonnegau area of Rheinhessen. The supplied information highlights winemaker Florian Fauth’s close understanding of the estate’s vineyards and soils, but does not provide further details about the winery’s history or achievements.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0874/0614/9969/files/weingut-seehof-westhofen-auslese-fass-9-2023-0.jpg?v=1791750276
