Produced from the celebrated Mandelpfad vineyard and matured extensively in French oak and bottle, it combines elegant red-fruit character with spice, depth and impressive length. The Knipser family has been making wine in Laumersheim since 1876 and was among the region’s early pioneers of estate bottling and premium red-wine production.

Tasting Notes
The wine presents a deep ruby-red colour. Its expressive nose brings together bright red berries and cherries with fine spices and subtle vanilla from the oak. On the palate, it is smooth yet concentrated, with a juicy texture, well-integrated structure and a long, persistent finish. The combination of ripe fruit, freshness and careful maturation gives the wine excellent cellaring potential; it can be enjoyed now with decanting or developed further over the next several years.

Production
The grapes come from the Mandelpfad vineyard in Laumersheim, in the northern Vorderpfalz between Grünstadt and Bad Dürkheim. This warm, well-regarded Pfalz site provides favourable conditions for producing concentrated yet elegant Spätburgunder. The fruit is fermented on the skins for around 10 days without whole bunches or stems, allowing for a pure expression of the grapes. The wine then matures for 24 months in new French oak barrels, followed by a further two years of bottle ageing before release.

Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 16–18°C. Its supple texture and concentrated fruit make it a natural match for roasted duck, game birds, veal, pork tenderloin, mushroom dishes and richly flavoured vegetarian cuisine. Decant for around 30–60 minutes when serving young to open the aromas and soften the structure; older bottles should be handled gently and decanted only if sediment is present.

Producer
Founded in Laumersheim in 1876, Weingut Knipser is a family-owned estate with vineyards in Laumersheim, Großkarlbach and Dirmstein, covering approximately 75 hectares. Heinz Knipser began bottling the estate’s wines in 1948, while Volker and Werner Knipser introduced barrique ageing in the mid-1980s and significantly expanded the focus on red wines. Their commitment to classic regional and international varieties, precise cellar work and long maturation has made Knipser one of the most respected producers in the Pfalz.
