Sourced from hillside vineyards near Ascoli Piceno, it combines floral and citrus-driven character with a light texture, subtle minerality and a lively saline finish. Passerina is an old local variety, traditionally associated with the small, sparrow-like appearance of its grape clusters.

Tasting Notes
Bright and delicate in appearance, this vintage opens with an inviting bouquet of white flowers, grapefruit and lemon, followed by notes of peach and green apple. On the palate, it is light-bodied and refreshing, with crisp citrus flavours, a discreet mineral character and a pleasant salty intensity that gives the finish extra energy.

The wine is designed to be enjoyed for its youthful freshness and aromatic precision. It is best appreciated while young, when its floral perfume, vibrant acidity and clean fruit character are at their most expressive.

Production
The vineyards lie in the hills of the Tronto Valley around Ascoli Piceno, approximately 20 kilometres from the Adriatic Sea, at elevations of 150–300 metres. Sea breezes temper the growing season, while the medium-fine, somewhat sandy calcareous soils help preserve aromatic definition and lend the wine a subtle savoury character. The grapes are hand-harvested in mid-September, gently pressed and rapidly chilled to encourage clarification. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks at 13–15°C, followed by winter maturation on steel at around 10°C to retain the wine’s natural freshness.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. Its citrus freshness and saline finish make it an excellent aperitif and a natural partner for seafood, shellfish, sushi, grilled fish, fresh salads, light pasta dishes and delicate white meats. Decanting is not necessary; simply open shortly before serving to allow its floral and fruity aromas to emerge.

Producer
Founded in Ascoli Piceno in 1984, Velenosi has become one of the most recognised producers in Marche, helping showcase the region’s native grapes and distinctive Adriatic-influenced terroirs.
