Made from carefully selected grapes and aged on its lees in bottle, it combines elegant bubbles, a pleasantly dry style and vibrant acidity. Founded in 1985, Portium has built a strong reputation in Spain and across Europe for approachable, high-quality Cava.

Tasting Notes
The wine shows a pale yellow colour with a delicate, persistent mousse. Its nose is fresh and inviting, with aromas of white fruit and crisp green apple, complemented by subtle lees-derived nuances from its extended bottle maturation.

On the palate, it is dry and pleasantly lively, balancing a rounded, full-bodied texture with refreshing acidity. Fine bubbles add elegance and make it particularly appealing as an aperitif. While best enjoyed for its freshness, its Reserva ageing gives it enough structure to accompany food comfortably over the near term.

Production
Portium’s 100 hectares of vineyards are situated in the Penedès, around 40 kilometres south of Barcelona, where the vines benefit from a Mediterranean coastal climate and protection from the Montserrat mountains. The grapes are pressed very gently, followed by fermentation in September at a controlled temperature of 15°C. After blending and bottling during the winter, the second fermentation takes place in bottle at 16°C. The bottles then rest horizontally in the cellars for an extended period—described by the producer as around two years, and at least 18 months—developing the wine’s fine mousse and added complexity.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 6–8°C. Portium Cava Brut Reserva is an excellent aperitif and pairs naturally with seafood, shellfish and crustaceans, as well as grilled fish, sushi, light tapas and delicate salads. Decanting is not recommended, as it would quickly diminish the wine’s bubbles; instead, open carefully and pour into narrow sparkling-wine glasses to preserve its freshness and effervescence.

Producer
Portium was founded in 1985 and is based in the Penedès, one of Spain’s most important regions for traditional-method sparkling wine. With 100 hectares of vineyards protected by the Montserrat mountains and influenced by the Mediterranean climate, the estate is well positioned to produce fresh, balanced Cava. Its wines have gained considerable recognition and popularity both in Spain and throughout Europe.
