The palate is full-bodied yet soft, with a rounded, balanced progression and an elegant structure shaped by oak ageing.

Enjoy it now after decanting, or cellar it for up to ten years, as recommended by the producer.

Production
The Villa da Vinci vineyards lie near Florence, with predominantly south-facing vines at around 30–40 metres above sea level. The soils are described as distinctive Pliocene alluvial deposits rich in shells. Vines are trained using Guyot and spur-pruned systems, and harvesting is timed to physiological ripeness: Merlot and Syrah are picked in early September, followed by Sangiovese in early October. Each variety is fermented separately at 28–30°C, with 12 days of skin maceration and regular pump-overs and délestage. The wine is then matured for 12–18 months, mainly in new oak barrels.

Food & Serving
Serve at 14–16°C after decanting for about an hour. It pairs well with cured and air-dried meats, mature cheeses, game and roasts, as well as peposo, the traditional Tuscan peppery beef stew.

Producer
Cantine Leonardo da Vinci has been preserving the agricultural heritage of the Vinci area since 1961.
