A long, harmonious finish balances the wine’s ripe fruit with fresh, aromatic notes. Changeable weather followed, including heat, rain and a sharp drop in temperature shortly before harvest; the grapes were picked from 25 August to 3 September, with notably even ripeness. Krug selects the most expressive wines of the vintage for its blend of the three classic Champagne varieties. In 2011, Pinot Noir brought balance and structure, Meunier freshness and dry elegance, while Chardonnay showed a riper, rounder generosity than usual.
