Crafted by Peter Sisseck from old-vine Tempranillo near the celebrated Barrosso and San Cristóbal parcels, it balances richness, freshness, and mineral drive with impressive finesse.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in the glass, this vintage shows a vibrant, polished profile rather than the darkest, most brooding style. The nose is layered with ripe plums, violets, wild herbs, and warm spice, framed by supple oak notes that add depth without overshadowing the fruit.

On the palate, it is powerful and full-bodied, but lifted by a distinct salty mineral streak that keeps the wine lively and focused. The tannins are present yet discreet, integrating smoothly into the generous fruit core. While already expressive, the wine has the structure and concentration to age gracefully for several more years, especially in magnum format.

Production
The fruit comes from partially leased vineyards close to the Barrosso and San Cristóbal plots that also supply Pingus, with vines averaging around 60 years of age. These deep-rooted Tempranillo vines thrive in Castilla y León’s dry conditions, drawing mineral character from the subsoil and retaining balance through the summer months. Fermentation takes place with a proportion of whole clusters in lightly crushed grapes, using 2,000-liter oak vats and a largely natural approach. The wine is then matured for 14 months in a mix of around 30% new French oak and seasoned barrels previously used for Flor and Pingus, before bottling without fining or filtration.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent partner for roast lamb, beef tenderloin, grilled ribeye, game, or rich mushroom dishes. It also works beautifully with slow-cooked Iberian-style meats and aged Manchego. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the aromas and texture to open fully.

Producer
Dominio de Pingus, founded by Danish winemaker Peter Sisseck, has become one of Spain’s most admired modern producers. Based in Ribera del Duero, the estate is known for its meticulous vineyard work, low yields, and a style that combines power with extraordinary refinement. Pingus and Flor de Pingus quickly achieved cult status, helping redefine what top-tier Tempranillo from Castilla y León could be.
